Why would you want to train in Pediatrics, Adult Psychiatry, and Child & Adolescent Psychiatry?
_________________________________________________
|
|
A) Because each training program makes me a better practitioner in the other field.
B) Because I like working with families and kids with mental and physical problems.
C) Because Child Psychiatry Training is five years anyway, so no additional training time is required.
D) Because it is a really, really cool way to train.
E) All of the Above (The correct answer). |
-
The five year Tulane Integrated Residency in Pediatrics, General Psychiatry, and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry is designed to train physicians who synthesize the clinical knowledge and skills of pediatrics and psychiatry in order to better care for children and their families.
-
This training program provides the trainee with education in these three disciplines as the foundation for lifelong learning, and the frontiers of teaching, clinical care, advocacy, administration, public policy, cultural competence, research, and systems of care design.
-
The integrated pediatrics, adult, and child/adolescent psychiatry program has been a successful pilot program and has led the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) to deem these programs as important and meriting the status of a combined program to be accredited by the Residency Review Committee (RRC) for Psychiatry and by the RRC for Pediatrics, both of which function under the auspices of the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME).
-
Combined programs are approved by the American Board of Pediatrics (ABP) and the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN), so that upon successful completion of the program, participants will be eligible for board certification in Pediatrics, Psychiatry, and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
