Because of our cell experiment that went up to the Mir, the Tulane Environmental Astrobiology Center was invited to the shuttle launch in September 1997. The entire lab closed down for three days and set up operations in Cape Canaveral, Florida. Last minute details were gone over with NASA and Russian space officials, and educational visits to the Kennedy Space Center, Visitor Center and IMAX theater were made. As you can see, it was both exhilarating and exhausting.
